What if the SWIFT code is wrong?
If the bank is correct but the branch code is wrong, the payment may reach the bank head office and then be redirected. If the bank or country code is wrong, the transfer can be delayed, returned or reviewed manually by the banks.
Always verify the code with the recipient or receiving bank before sending a large payment. See our wrong SWIFT code guide for more detail.
Use the SWIFT/BIC validator or search the global bank code database.
